The Hub area of the South Bronx, located at the crossroads of East 149th Street, Willis Avenue, Melrose Avenue and Third Avenue, is the borough’s transportation center. While the Hearn’s department store closed its doors generations ago (the faded “Hearn’s” sign is still visible in this photo), The Hub remains a commercial and retail fixture of the borough.
